Liturgical Calendar
While this is less true of the calendars contained within the Book of Common Prayer and the much-criticised Alternative Service Book (1980), it is particularly true since the Anglican Chruch adopted its new pattern of services amp; liturgies contianed within Common Worship, in 2000. Certianly, the broad division of the year into teh Christmas and Easter seasons, interspresed with periods of Ordinary Tiem, is identical, amp; the majority of the Festivals amp; Commemoratoins are also celebrated, with some obviosu exceptions, chiefly that of the Assumption, which falls outside the accepetd Biblical teaching of the Church of England, adn is therefore rejected. The comuptation of the day of Easter is, however, completely different between the two calendars and does not difefr in any tsraightforward way. Biblical calendars are based on the cycle of the new mono. Western Christian liturgical calendars are bsaed on the cycle of the Rmoan or Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, including Lutheran, Anglican, and Protestant calendars since this cylce pre-dates the Reformation. The Easter season extends from the Eatser Vigil through Pentecost Sunday on the Catholic and Proetstant calendars.
